SeaLink Tasmania is seeking an experienced Master to join our Marine team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to play a key leadership role onboard, ensuring the safe, smooth and efficient operation of our vessels while delivering exceptional customer experience.

About the Role

As the Master, you will be the most senior person onboard and responsible for the safe navigation and operation of the vessel. You’ll lead the crew, ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and company policies, and oversee passenger and vehicle safety during boarding, transit and disembarkation.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the safe and efficient operation of the vessel including navigation, mooring and emergency response
  • Oversee safe passenger and vehicle loading/unloading operations
  • Monitor weather conditions and communicate proactively with management
  • Ensure service timetables are maintained and delays are communicated appropriately
  • Manage vessel cleanliness, housekeeping and onboard organisation
  • Ensure all vessel SMS compliance and certification requirements are met
  • Support maintenance activities and collaborate with the Engineer to manage the MEX system
  • Conduct safety drills and ensure onboard safety equipment is maintained and tested
  • Complete and oversee accurate reporting at the end of shift

 

About You

You are an experienced maritime professional who leads from the front. Calm, decisive and safety-focused, you bring sound judgement and situational awareness to every voyage. You understand that the role of Master extends beyond navigation — you set the tone onboard, inspire confidence in your crew and ensure every passenger journey is safe, efficient and professional.

 

Above all, you understand that safety, reliability and customer experience go hand in hand — and you take pride in delivering all three at the highest standard.
