About Horizons West Horizons West is part of Kelsian Group Limited, Australia’s largest integrated land and marine, tourism and public transport service provider with established international operations in London, the USA and Singapore. About the Role The Bus Aide plays a key role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers travelling on Horizons West school bus services. Working closely with the driver, the Bus Aide provides supervision, behavioural support, and assistance to passengers—particularly those with mobility challenges—while upholding Horizons West’s values of safety, professionalism, and care. Duties - Maintain a safe and positive environment, assisting with vehicle access and managing passenger behaviour according to guidelines.
- Ensure proper use of restraints, fasten seatbelts, and check documentation for restrictive devices.
- Address individual passenger needs based on care plans and update seating plans as required.
- Present professionally in uniform, engage respectfully with passengers, and report incidents while keeping documentation current.
- Clean and maintain the bus after each shift and follow safety procedures during emergencies.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience - Valid Working with Children Check (Essential).
- Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certification (Essential).
- Ability to work collaboratively with drivers and passengers with diverse needs.
- Understanding of behaviour management and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when working with school-aged children.
- Experience in education and/or disability support, or child supervision (preferred).
- Sound judgement and ability to remain calm in emergencies.
