Join our growing team at Transit Systems NSW for a 12 month contract role!

 

About the role

 

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager in NSW, the HSEQ Advisor's role is to facilitate high standards of HSEQ across multiple sites.

You will support the business in implementing the HSEQ strategy and partnering the business to meet legislative compliance. Maintain and continually improve the Safety, Environmental and Quality documentation within the HSEQ Management System.

Provide advice and coach Managers and their teams in proactive hazard identification, risk assessments, incident investigations and reviews to reduce risk.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Leadership Team with promoting a culture of safety awareness, injury, and incident prevention throughout the business. Provide guidance to managers and employees with enquiries relating to internal policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate the continual review and improvement of the HSEQ Management System and the Business Management System
  • Continually strive to improve Management and Employee education and awareness on all matters relating to risk, health, safety, and environment, conducting risk assessments and applying the Hierarchy of Control methodology.
  • Promote a safe working environment and the ongoing development of risk management processes
  • Undertake risk assessments, internal audits, and workplace inspections as required, and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Investigate high-risk hazards, major incidents, including ‘near miss’ incidents in the Business, supporting managers to identify the root cause with timely close out of corrective actions using innovative solutions

 

Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in safety leadership role with a minimum tertiary qualification in WHS, working knowledge of ISO accredited systems (9001, 14001, 45001) backed by expert knowledge of contemporary safety knowledge and best practice, and the statutory and regulatory framework in workplace legislation. Previous experience in the transportation industry an advantage.

Excellent interpersonal skills for training employees on procedures and strategies, your ability to identify hazards and control risks in the workplace and high-level documentation skills for the recording, investigation, and reporting of safety performance will be essential in continuously improving HSEQ in our Integrated Management System.

With an ability to work in a team environment or autonomously, your influencing and partnering skills will ensure the efficient and ethical performance within health and safety team.
