RiverCity Ferries has recently been awarded the contract to operate and maintain the Brisbane City Council’s Ferry fleet and associated infrastructure on the Brisbane River. The network is over 20km long operating 30 vessels and associated terminals, including a maintenance and operations facility at Rivergate. The network moves in excess of 5 million passengers a year. About the Role Based in Brisbane and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, RiverCity Ferries, this role will work collaboratively in maintaining Brisbane City Council’s vessel fleet. About You We are seeking a skilled professional with strong experience in Marine Engine Driver (MED), Marine Engineering, or Diesel Fitting. Appropriate qualifications in Marine Engineering will be highly regarded. Key Responsibilities: - Install, operate, service, fault find, repair, and maintain plant equipment including 12/24 V electrical systems, tanks, sewage systems, and vessel fit-outs.
- Perform basic oxy-acetylene gas, MIG/TIG welding repairs.
- Exercise sound judgment in assessing equipment condition and determining corrective actions.
- Apply maintenance planning techniques and continuous improvement principles.
- Conduct daily engine and machinery checks on assigned vessels.
- Record all maintenance requirements and interventions accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to work under WH&S practices.
- Maintain logs and work orders through to completion and sign-off.
- Prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while working collaboratively in a team.
- Participate in rostered shifts and on-call rotations.
Desirable - 3 - 5 years’ maintenance experience in the marine environment desirable.
- MED or Marine Engineer Class 2 or 3.
- Engine rebuild experience.
- Experienced with quality systems & compliance with the requirements of ISO9001, 14001 and 55001.
- Ability to develop Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments on assigned jobs.
- Current C class driving licence.
- Forklift Licence, Gantry overhead crane, EWP.
- High Risk Work (Confined Space/ Working at heights) highly desirable.
