The opportunity

We are searching for a confident and dedicated Apprentice Carpenter ready to commence a foundation in the building industry. This apprenticeship is a great opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge and experience in commercial carpentry while working alongside experienced tradespeople in a unique resort environment. Upon completion, you will obtain the qualification of Certificate III in Carpentry. The role may work across all our K'gari sites but will be based at Kingfisher Bay Resort.  

 

Based at Kingfisher Bay Resort, you will work with and learn from a skilled team of qualified tradespersons who take pride in delivering high-quality building, maintenance and repair work across the resort. The team’s main goal is to ensure our accommodation, facilities and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard to provide our guests with an exceptional experience on the beautiful Island of K’gari.

 

This apprenticeship is on a permanent basis, working 76 hours per fortnight including the periodical attendance at an independent educational institute. Our ideal candidate is living in Hervey Bay or it’s surroundings, is willing and able to commute to the island and has a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.

 

Essential Skills and Experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Keen interest in carpentry, construction and general building maintenance
  • Keen interest in using hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment safely and effectively
  • Keen interest in building works, repairs and maintenance in a practical work environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with a willingness to learn, develop and take direction from qualified tradespersons
  • QLD Driver’s Licence preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake physical work and work in outdoor environments
