About the Role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a National HSEQ Lead in a Full-time position. This role is pivotal in supporting our Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Strategy across Transit Systems (Australian Public Transport) Division.

 

The successful candidate will have a strong background in the HSEQ domain and will be confident in delivering national reports, meeting regulatory compliance and supporting the promotion of a safety-first culture nationally across the business to achieve industry best practices.

 

Duties

  • Prepare comprehensive HSEQ reports, analyse trends, and provide timely recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide tactical leadership in the development and maintenance of integrated HSEQ management systems, ensuring alignment with ISO standards.
  • Partner with Strategic Business Units to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of their HSE management systems, meeting internal and external standards.
  • Develop and deliver national training programs to enhance quality and safety awareness and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Lead and oversee HSE initiatives and key projects across Transit Systems, ensuring full compliance with legislative and policy obligations.
  • Support the GM, HSEQ to develop, implement, and continuously improve HSE strategies in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Lead investigations, inspections, and audits, ensuring that all high-risk hazards and incidents are effectively managed and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote a safe and healthy work environment across all operations.
  • Provide technical expertise in the development and maintenance of integrated HSEQ management systems aligned with ISO standards. 

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline (essential). ICAM Incident Investigation qualifications and Auditor of Management Systems certification are advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role within high-risk industries such as mining, logistics, transport, or marine.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Work Health & Safety Act, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, and 55001), and risk management principles.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to consult openly with all levels of leadership.
    • Strong research, analytical, and evaluation abilities.
    • Methodical problem-solving approach and excellent attention to detail.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and safety databases.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
