The Finance Manager's role is to oversee the financial operations of a NSW region 6 and play a crucial role in financial planning, reporting, and analysis, ensuring the region's financial health and supporting its growth objectives. This is a leadership role that will provide guidance and mentorship to team members. This role will be based at Smithfield, or at another Transit Systems location by mutual agreement. Key Responsibilities: - Ensure all financial transactions are properly coded to the P&L and balance sheet.
- Lead all financial reporting activities, including the preparation of monthly, half-yearly, and annual financial statements for the relevant region(s).
- Prepare the budgeting processes in close collaboration with department heads.
- Manage cash flow and treasury operations.
- Conduct a monthly review of the balance sheet.
- Ensure timely submission to relevant authorities, such as BAS, payroll taxes, and FBT.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead a team of accountants, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and government regulations.
- Support the year-end process and annual audit, ensuring financial integrity and producing high-quality outputs.
- Handle ad hoc projects and reporting.
Qualifications: - Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance, including at least 2 years in a senior role with team leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
- Experience in the transportation industry or government contracting is highly desirable
- Excellent understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and independently with confidence
- Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Exposure to a large ERP system and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
