Are you an early riser with a passion for hospitality and leadership? Join SeaLink South East Queensland as a Cafe Team Leader at our bustling Departure Lounge Cafe, the largest of our five café locations. From the first coffee pour at 5am to the lunchtime rush, you’ll lead a dynamic team in delivering exceptional service and delicious food to our passengers.

 

About the Role

As the Café Team Leader, you’ll be the go-to person for smooth, high-energy shifts. You’ll lead a small team in preparing fresh menu items, maintaining high cleanliness standards, and ensuring every customer leaves with a smile. Your team also play a key role in preparing takeaway items for onboard ferry service.

This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the Café Manager, with support from the Assistant Café Manager who together oversee administration across all five cafés. Your focus will be on daily operations, team performance, and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the café team during daily operations.
  • Open the café and prepare for morning trade.
  • Delegate tasks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and food quality standards.
  • Prepare and present food and beverages, including barista-made coffee.
  • Handle cash and reconcile daily takings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all café areas.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and company policies.

 About You

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in food and beverage roles, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for customer service and team development.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Monday – Friday, including Public Holidays with the potential for occasional weekend work depending on operational needs

 Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA): Essential
  • Food Safety Certificate: Essential
  • Coffee making skills: Excellent
  • First Aid/CPR Certificates: Desirable (or willing to obtain)
