*Conditions and employment duration may apply The Opportunity We’re looking for a Yardperson, Gardener & Maintenance Worker to join our Maintenance team at K’gari Beach Resort, located on the world‑heritage listed K’gari (Fraser Island). Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands‑on role is responsible for maintaining the resort’s grounds, gardens and general infrastructure to a 4‑star standard. You’ll play a key part in keeping our outdoor spaces looking their best while also supporting general maintenance, public areas and resort operations. This role suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in well‑presented grounds, can work unsupervised, and values safety and teamwork in a resort environment. This is a permanent part‑time position, working across a rotating roster of up to 76 hours per fortnight. About the role: You will be responsible for a mix of groundskeeping, gardening and general handyperson duties, including: - Maintaining resort gardens and landscaped areas to a high standard
- Performing general grounds and yard maintenance as directed
- Assisting with general maintenance across resort buildings and villas
- Supporting qualified trades with general maintenance tasks
- Daily public area cleaning and presentation
- Pool water testing and assisting with routine pool maintenance
- Identifying and reporting hazards, maintenance issues and safety concerns
- Ensuring safe use of tools, equipment and chemicals at all times
- Supporting waste management and yard operations
Safety, presentation and attention to detail are critical in this role. What you'll bring - Previous experience in gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance (resort or hospitality experience highly regarded)
- Experience in general maintenance or handyperson duties
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- The ability to work unsupervised and prioritise daily tasks
- A positive, can‑do attitude and strong work ethic
- Good communication skills and a team‑focused mindset
- A valid open Australian driver’s licence
Highly regarded (but not essential): - Certificate in Horticulture
- Chainsaw ticket
- Forklift licence
- Experience working in a remote or island environment
