This is a rare opportunity to step into a key leadership role overseeing essential services to Magnetic Island and Palm Island, while also managing SeaLink’s iconic Great Barrier Reef day tours and whale watching – all within a region renowned for its natural beauty and relaxed pace of life. About You We're looking for a confident and capable marine operations leader who brings: - Proven leadership experience in marine, transport, or logistics operations
- A commitment to service excellence, team development, and continuous improvement
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with a calm and proactive approach
- Experience with strategic workforce planning, rostering, and negotiation
- Strong knowledge of maritime compliance, vessel operations, and safety systems
Qualifications & Experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience in marine operations or transport logistics leadership
- Familiarity with the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) - desirable
- Relevant maritime qualifications (e.g. Master <45m, MED 1) - desirable
- High-level computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and workforce scheduling tools (e.g. Deputy Program)
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license
- Senior First Aid certification
What you will do: - Lead and manage daily ferry and tourism operations, including marine crew
- Oversee vessel schedules, crew rostering, timesheets, and workforce planning
- Manage operational budgets and identify cost optimization opportunities
- Foster a safety-first culture, including emergency preparedness and incident management
- Maintain high standards of customer service and operational reliability
- Prepare accurate reports and operational insights for senior management
- Build strong stakeholder relationships with regulators, port authorities, and tourism partners
- Ensure compliance with AMSA requirements, maritime legislation, and company policies
