About the role
This position will be an integral part of the Sealink South Australia Marine Operations team. The primary function of the Bosun role is the maintenance of vessel presentation, ropes, paintwork and stores and assisting with passenger and deck loading operations.
The Bosun assists with mooring operations and ensures that the presentation, cleaning, customer displays and safety messages of the vessel are compliant with Standard Operating Procedures and safety standards. The Bosun assists the on board café with customer service and ensures that the café is compliant with Standard Operating Procedures and safe work practices.
This will include working as part of a team, whilst maintaining excellence in safety and reliability at all times.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high level of organization are essential to this role. It is also a requirement to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You will be required to work up to seven days on, seven days off. At times work outside of these hours during periods of annual slipping and maintenance requirements. A reasonable knowledge of the vessel is essential to all aspects of this role. You will be working in close conjunction with all crew.
The Bosun will be expected to meet and exceed key performance indicators, whilst displaying a high level of work ethics.
This role requires energy, commitment, initiative, teamwork, and multi skilling and time management. A functional assessment will be required to ensure you are physically fit to perform the duties required for this role.

- Master <24m NC Certificate of Competency – Desirable
- Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 – Desirable
- Espresso Coffee Making – Desirable
- Food Safety Certificate - Desirable
- Responsible Service of Alcohol – Desirable
