The PS Murray Princess is the largest inland paddle wheeler in the Southern Hemisphere.  Accommodating a maximum of 120 guests and operating 3, 4, and 7-night cruises on the Murray River from Mannum, 87 kilometres from Adelaide, this stunning vessel attracts guests from all over Australia and the world.

 

About the role

 

The primary function of the Night Porter role is the night watch and safety of the vessel. This role requires that you work on your own during the majority of your shift. The roster is 7 days on/ 7 days off. 

 

The Night Porter's responsibilities include hourly patrols of the vessel, recording in the log book in the wheelhouse, setting up the dining room for breakfast, cleaning paddlewheel lounges, spas and saunas, gym room, laundry, public toilets, sundeck, and cleaning brass railings and handrails.

  • Physically fit
  • Proven personnel management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform autonomously
  • Flexibility and reliability
  • Proven ability to handle difficult situations
  • Interpersonal and relationship building

These key requirements will be complemented by experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol – Essential
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment - Essential
  • Experience in the Tourism and or Hospitality Industry - Desirable
  • Food Safety Certificate - Desirable
  • Current First Aid – Essential
