Stretching 123 kilometres, the World-Heritage island claims the title of the world’s largest sand island, with remarkable sights just waiting to be explored. Only a 45 minute flight north of Brisbane, the island offers a series of bucket list experiences and natural wonders, including the famed Lake McKenzie, ancient Pile Valley rainforest, glistening Champagne Pools and the vast 75 Mile Beach.  

 

The opportunity

 

Nestled along the western bay of K’gari (Fraser Island) is Kingfisher Bay Resort, the island’s premiere 4 star eco-resort and winner of TripAdvisor’s 2022 Traveller’s Choice Award. 

Our award-winning team provide an extensive culinary offering for our guests across multiple outlets, from pool-side buffet breakfasts, al-la-carte lunch/dinner service, fine-dining and casual bistro.

Due to exciting growth we have immediate opportunities for experienced Chefs to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis. This is a live-on island opportunity; the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the island and live in our staff village.

About you

  • Passionate about quality food and service
  • Committed to delivering brilliant customer experiences
  • Ability to commit to rostered shifts over 7 days
  • The ability to relocate and live in the staff accommodation 
  • Hold the right to live and work in Australia 

Role requirements 

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience post-qualification
  • Experience working in a high-volume kitchen
  • Experience working in a hotel/resort (highly regarded) 
  • Certificate III or IV Commercial Cookery
  • Diploma Hospitality Management (highly regarded)
  • HACCP and Food Safety and Hygiene training
  • Manual drivers’ licence (highly regarded)
