About the Role


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Managing Director is responsible for safe and efficient operations across Torrens Transit along with day-to-day business management, ensuring compliance with contractual terms agreed to with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.


Accountable for business development activities and delivery of commercial targets, the Managing Director will positively influence and contribute to the Transit Systems’ Management Team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse team of operational and business managers, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Torrens Transit activities, most importantly ensuring all health and safety considerations and obligations are managed appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with Department for Infrastructure and Transport in developing a strategic partnership to evaluate business opportunities and assist in responding to innovation opportunities facilitated by emerging technologies.
  • Ensure monitoring of on road service performance is conducted to certify services are operating within contractual specifications and meeting patronage requirements.
  • Lead cultural change that drives a continuous improvement environment and ensures Torrens Transit becomes an employer of choice.
  • Ensure the implementation and management of Diversity and Inclusion programs to engage our diverse workforce, celebrate success and recognise and thank our team members.
  • Ensure effective auditing is conducted to make certain compliance with company policies and procedures and ISO certification is maintained.
  • Ensure effective implementation and management of the Business Management System policy/procedures.
  • Provide strong advocacy for the Company’s Reconciliation Action Plan

About You

  • A positive and motivated leader, with the ability to lead by example in all areas; but more critically the delivery of brilliant customer service.
  • Experience in the operational management of public transport services and an understanding of the administrative and contractual requirements with Government.
  • Strong management capabilities, focused on coaching and driving a team to deliver exceptional results.
  • The ability to drive a strong safety culture and identify and manage business risk.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with all levels of management, staff and Government agencies.
  • Capability to oversee the maintenance, repair and asset management.
  • Ability to develop and drive the delivery of the key strategic business objectives.
  • Understanding and application of the principals, concepts and legal requirements of Health, Safety, Environment, Equal Opportunity, Quality Assurance and Asset Management.
