About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director of Swan Transit and partnering with the Head of HSEQ for Transit Systems, our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Manager’s role is to facilitate high standards of HSEQ across multiple sites.

 

You will drive continued development, maintenance, and improvement of the HSEQ Management System, with innovative and new technology being introduced to operations through 2023. This will be achieved with the partnership of senior leadership, operational management, employees, and business stakeholders.

 

Change management skills and your knowledge of legislative compliance will ensure the achievement of the company’s objectives, with an innovative yet fit for purpose strategy.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide high level advice to senior managers and key stakeholders across the full range of safety policies, programs and practice to mitigate potential risks, providing updates on trends and issues impacting on HSEQ.
  • Develop effective processes for regular monitoring and review in respect of WHS.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, review incidents and undertake investigations; identify learnings and opportunities for improvement, and partnering with the Learning and Development training team to create real-life content that educates employees and promotes safety awareness.
  • Ensure the ongoing development of a suite of contemporary and effective safety policies, procedures, systems, and processes for effective and consistent implementation across Swan Transit.
  • Research and present proposals for contemporary and innovative safety practices and manage implementation of approved functions.

Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in safety leadership role with a minimum tertiary qualification in WHS, working knowledge of ISO accredited systems (9001, 14001, 45001) backed by expert knowledge of contemporary safety knowledge and best practice, and the statutory and regulatory framework in workplace legislation. Previous experience in the transportation industry an advantage.

 

Excellent interpersonal skills for training employees on procedures and strategies, your ability to identify hazards and control risks in the workplace and high-level documentation skills for the recording, investigation, and reporting of safety performance will be essential in continuously developing the Safety Management System.

 

With an ability to work in a team environment or autonomously and strong leadership and managerial skills will ensure the efficient and ethical performance of your health and safety team.
