With a total of 10 vessels cruising into the Swan Valley, Swan River Perth to Fremantle and out to Rottnest Island, this is a great opportunity to join a committed and experienced team.

 

About the Role

 

The primary function of these roles are the safe and efficient operation of Company vessels. The engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all machinery and equipment onboard, including servicing, maintenance, and presentation of the vessel. The engineer also assists with the loading/unloading of the vessel, luggage & equipment. This position requires a high standard of interpersonal and organisational skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.

 

This role is predominantly for the Rottnest Island service, however you will be required to work across all our vessels. You will be required to work a mixture of shifts covering days, evenings, nights, weekends & public holidays. You will work in close conjunction with the Marine Maintenance Manager and the Marine Operations Manager.

 

These are key roles within the organisation and requires leadership, energy, commitment, initiative, teamwork, multi-skilling, and time management skills.

 

About You 

 

To be successful in the role you must:

  • Have proven strong leadership skills and people management.
  • Have written and verbal communication skills
  • Have Organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to perform autonomously and effective delegation.
  • Have proven vessel maintenance experience.
  • Flexibility and reliability.
  • Have outstanding customer service
  • Be well presented at all times
  • Be able to interact with guests in a friendly yet professional manner whist promoting the philosophies of SeaLink WA
  • Have Tourism Industry experience

Key Skills that are required in these roles are:

  • Minimum MED Grade 2 or 3 - Essential
  • Marine Engine Driver grade 1 - Desirable
  • Senior First Aid - Essential
  • Drivers Licence – Essential
  • Shipboard Safety Certificate - Essential
  • Confined space – Desirable
  • Trade Certificate - Desirable
