HSEQ Manager

About Torrens Transit:

 

Torrens Transit, a Kelsian Group subsidiary, is Adelaide's largest Adelaide Metro operator, managing over 800 buses across six depots. We collaborate with the SA Government, delivering reliable, convenient, and safe public transport solutions.

 

 

About the Role:

 

Reporting to the Managing Director and collaborating with Transit Systems’ General Manager of HSEQ, you will champion high HSEQ standards across our six metropolitan depots.

 

This pivotal role involves driving the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our HSEQ Management System, leveraging innovative technologies and collaborating with senior leadership, operational management, employees, and stakeholders.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert HSEQ advice to senior Torrens Transit management and key stakeholders, mitigating potential risks and proactively addressing emerging trends and legislative changes. Support the business in maintaining legislative compliance, sustainability goals, and implementing industry best practices.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of our robust WHS monitoring and review processes, conduct comprehensive risk assessments and ICAM incident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance across all depots, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of an ISO-accredited integrated management system (ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001), ensuring ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
  • Conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and partner with the Transit Academy to develop and deliver relevant and engaging safety training, coaching and mentoring operational teams, to foster a strong HSE culture.
  • Continuously improve Torrens Transit's safety policies, procedures, and systems, researching and implementing innovative practices, and compiling comprehensive HSE reports to analyse performance trends and drive proactive improvements.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety (WHS) or a related discipline.
  • Certified in Incident Case Analysis and Management (ICAM) investigations.
  • Minimum five years of demonstrated experience in a safety leadership position within a high-risk environment.
  • Proven track record in the development, implementation, and maintenance of self-insured/accredited HSEQ management systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Work Health & Safety Act, Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Risk Management principles.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of documented management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
