ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Due to the successful award of additional Southwest Sydney Bus Contracts, Transit Systems have multiple positions for Auto Electricians and Heavy Vehicle Mechanics at our Bankstown and South Granville depots.

  • Repairing buses with minor repairs in a timely fashion to ensure every driver has a bus to take on the road.
  • Adhere to a kilometre-based service schedule, entailing minor/ major services and vehicle inspections. Services are assigned by a Leading Hand and Parts are provided by a Storeman.
  • Carry out twice yearly fleet inspection for vehicle compliance with RMS. Inspecting vehicles ahead of registration and ensuring fleet quality is optimal for presentation to passengers and inspectors.
  • On road break-downs, attending to vehicles on road with various faults from something minor like a damaged mirror to something major requiring a tow such as seized motors and or brakes locked on.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL IDEALLY HAVE/BE

  • Demonstrated work experience as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic/Auto Electrician
  • Relevant Trade qualifications (MVIRA)
  • A MR/HR driver’s license or ability and willingness to obtain one.
  • Adheres to relevant company policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety, Quality Assurance, Equal Opportunity and other aspects of the business.
  • Ability to complete pre-inspection of vehicles for RMS inspection.
