About the Role

 

The Vessel Master plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day safe and efficient operation of our vessels and their crew.  The Vessel Master is responsible for navigation, crew leadership, safety drills, and management systems as well as reporting requirements. Clear communication, physical fitness, and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines are paramount in the role.

 

SeaLink NT has multiple full-time positions available. As the positions are based in Darwin, the successful candidate will need to be based locally or be willing to relocate to Darwin.

If you are a New Zealand resident - your qualifications can be recognized through Qualifications & training | Australian Maritime Safety Authority (amsa.gov.au) allowing you to operate marine vessels in Australia. 


If you are thinking about relocating - Darwin is a lush tropical coastal city with a small population, favored by many due to warm year-round climate and a short wet season.

 

Darwin isn’t huge on shopping, but if you prefer fishing to fashion then you’re in luck. Darwin boasts some of the best fishing spots in Australia and a thriving social network. There is a wide variety of housing available for both short term and permanent relocation. 

 

About You

 

We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic and proven leadership skills to join our marine crew.  These attributes will be complemented by experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Qualified for near coastal marine Master/Skipper
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of safety and maritime obligations
  • Senior First Aid and Resuscitation Qualification (desirable)
  • Able to obtain a Clear Police Clearance
  • Physical fitness and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines is paramount in this role
  • Experience in Marine Tourism will be well regarded.
