Join an award-winning ASX listed tourism and transport company Located on the beautiful tropical Groote Eyland Access to a range of Employee Benefits including Accommodation About the Role SeaLink Northern Territory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vessel Master/Operations Manager to operate our Monday to Friday Groote Eyland Ferry Service and support Local Groote Eyland Operations. The position is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day activities related to local Ferry and Bus operations including being the Master on the Service and providing support to our local bus driver. In addition to Vessel Master duties, you will be responsible for logistics, staffing, maintenance and safety compliance. You will be an integral part of the local community in providing the contracted services on Groote Eyland. This is a leadership position and a high level of interpersonal skills, customer focus and task orientation is required to ensure success. It is an expectation that this person has a high level of communication skills including coaching and conflict resolution. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential to this position. Engaging with local internal and external stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner, is one of the essential key requirements of the role.. This role is permanently based on Groote Eyland, with shared housing provided for our ferry crew. Key Responsibilities of the role: - Ensuring that the local based vessel and vehicles are operated and maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Monitoring compliance with safety regulations
- Providing timely and accurate operational reports to senior management
- Maintaining the scheduled services on the island, operating the ferry service and providing operations for the bus service.
About You This role requires both experience as a Master/MED, and the demonstrated ability to coordinate operations and engage positively with the local community. These key requirements will be complimented by experience and skills in the following areas: - Minimum AMSA accredited Master <24M, with MED 2
- Experience in a marine operations management role
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of marine regulations and industry standards
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Commercial Passenger Vehicle Licence (Desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs
