Kangaroo Island Odysseys (a subsidiary of SeaLink Marine & Tourism) is looking for bright and energetic individuals who are fluent in Italian or French to join their team on a casual basis! We also need English speaking tour guides as demand is  increasing.


With the exciting news that international travel is set to re-commence in Australia from February 2022 we are preparing to schedule tours as overseas interest in our product range gathers momentum. We are currently managing expressions of interest for touring from these specific language speaking groups.


About the role


The Tour Guide/Interpreter conducts fully escorted wildlife and nature-based touring on Kangaroo Island. They must ensure that Kangaroo Island Odysseys is delivering the highest standard of fully escorted small group touring and that all passenger needs and requirements are met for travel arrangements, accommodation, meals, sightseeing, inspections etc.

About You

  • Strong work ethic, positive can-do attitude and be enthusiastic

  • Sound administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • High level of customer service and communication skills
  • Italian or French or English language skills - essential
  • Passenger drivers accreditation (SP) - essential
  • Passenger drivers accreditation (LP) - desirable
  • Standard motor vehicle drivers Licence - essential
  • Food Handling/Hygiene Certificate – Highly desirable
  • Seniors First Aid Certificate – Highly desirable
  • Certificate in Tour Guiding / Ecotourism / environmental management - Highly desirable

These key requirements will be complimented by experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Previous experience in the travel industry - Desirable
  • Previous experience in touring or dealing with groups of people
  • Knowledge & Interest of local flora and fauna (Australia/Kangaroo Island) - Highly desirable
  • Knowledge & Interest of local history, environment, ecology, farming and parks - Highly desirable
