Communications Officer

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, enjoys working with diverse stakeholders, and takes pride in creating positive experiences for employees, customers and the community.

About the Role

Reporting to the NSW Customer Experience and Communications Manager, you will support the planning, development and delivery of internal, external and stakeholder communications. You will play a key role in creating engaging content, supporting media coordination, and ensuring our workforce and customers remain informed about important service updates and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of internal communications strategies including staff newsletters, posters and management communications

  • Assist with customer and stakeholder communications relating to service changes and key projects

  • Support coordination of media issues and identify opportunities for proactive media and public relations activities

  • Develop engaging content across social media platforms

  • Maintain and update website content as required

  • Work collaboratively with operational and corporate teams to deliver communication outcomes

About You

  • You bring the right attitude and a strong can-do approach to your work

  • You demonstrate excellent customer service mindset, understanding the impact communications have on people’s experience

  • You present professionally and positively, with a friendly and approachable communication style

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, media or relevant experience

  • Experience in internal and external communications, media coordination and social media content development

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities

  • Strong written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Political awareness and sound judgement when managing sensitive information

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Adobe) is desirable

  • Knowledge of the Greater Sydney transport network is highly regarded
