About the Role

 

Located in the heart of Airlie Beach, SeaLink Whitsundays is a division of SeaLink Marine and Tourism - Australia's largest Marine and Tourism company, incorporating Red Cat Adventures and Whitsunday Jet skis.

 

As part of the leadership team the Maintenance Manager plays a pivotal role for the division in leading the smooth, effective and efficient running of all aspects of the Maintenance Department. Ensuring efficient maintenance operations of the company's assets including all vessel's, vehicles and equipment for the Whitsunday division. Will ensure excellence is maintained in standards, safety and reliability at all times. This role is critical to the service and maintenance agreement with Hayman Island Ferry Service ensuring alignment and delivery on expectations. Working closely with the leadership team to implement initiatives that drive efficiencies and engagement to maintain our position as an award-winning industry leader.

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager the position will be responsible for but not limited to:

 

  • Lead and manage maintenance team, and contracted services 
  • Manage allocation of work, performance and resource utilization to ensure productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage rostering and workforce planning 
  • Ensure compliance to AMSA regulations 
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets 
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers and contractors
  • Maintain inventory control of critical spars and equipment 
  • Develop both short- and long-term preventative management plans ensuring minimal operational disruption 
  • Plan and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance for vessels.
  • Manage dry dock schedules, inspections and repairs
  • Ensure all maintenance is performed to quality standards and compliance
  • Work closely with operations to coordinate maintenance schedules 
  • Report on maintenance performance 
  • Support emergency preparedness
  • Ensure the Work Health and Safety obligations of themselves and their team

Required skills:

  • Strong leadership skills - able to guide team and manage expectations and accountabilities  
  • Effective communication skills - can communicate technical information clearly to team, crew and leadership group.
  • Organizational: The ability to manage multiple responsibilities to meet required
  • Problem-solving skills: Proven capability to anticipate issues, identify solutions, and independently resolve problems.
  • Decisiveness - makes timely calls especially under pressure 
  • Agility - To adapt to operational changes with innovative solutions to achieve the optimum outcome 
  • Continuous Improvement -Always looking to optimise performance and reduce downtime
  • Commercial Mindset - Value driven decision making based on business impact 

Essential 

  • Min 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Trade Qualification preferably with marine diesel experience  
  • Current driver's license
