Fixed Term - Site Engineer
Leichhardt, NSW

What you’ll be doing

 

Oversee the execution of large-scale Zero Emission Bus projects and take responsibility for managing all aspects including the construction, installation and commissioning of an electrical network grid connection, depot electrical and charging infrastructure and the deployment of a significant fleet of battery electric buses. This is a fixed term contract planned for completion on 30 September 2026.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Ensure compliance with the Project Scope, Works Brief, as well as all relevant codes, regulations, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Project planning and execution including coordinating and integrating external stakeholder project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Act as the Principal’s representative during the construction and installation activities for the electrical network grid connection, depot electrical infrastructure, and charging stations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Oversee the commissioning and testing phase.
  • Collaborate with the internal fleet department on the timing of the deployment of a large fleet of battery electric buses, including the coordination of the availability of the electrical infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and reliability.

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction, project management or business management.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects, preferably in transportation, energy sector, or with large scale zero emission installations.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, infrastructure design, and installation practices, including all relevant codes, regulations, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the zero-emission bus industry, including electric vehicle technology and charging infrastructure.
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication.

 

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Project delivery expertise
  • Project management experience.
  • A deep understanding of civil works, electrical systems and infrastructure deployment.
  • Strong leadership skills.

 

Desirable Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical / civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
