SeaLink SEQ is seeking Expressions of interest for an internal opportunity as a Full Time Deckhand for our NSI Passenger Ferry Service. The role of Deckhand will provide exceptional customer service and assist in the safe operation, maintenance and upkeep of the vessel.
Working closely with vessel crew, key duties include:
- Provide excellent customer service
- Assisting with safe daily operations of the vessel
- Identify and notify Master/Operations of safety concerns and assist with implementation to prevent incidents
- Participate and contribute to emergency response plans
- Monitor and organise passenger loading safely and efficiently while providing clear directions to passengers
- Responsible for general maintenance and overall cleanliness of the of the vessel
- Securely moor the vessel at each pontoon, coil mooring lines neatly at the completion of each trip and inspect and splice mooring lines when required
- Carry out deck patrols during shift and ensure the vessel is protected from being damaged when in its berth
- Understand and meet the requirements detailed in the vessel’s Safety Management System, to actively participate in emergency response procedures
- Manage ticket sales and checks ensuring compliance

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- General Purpose Hand (GPH) - Certificate of Competency (minimum requirement)
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR
- High level of computer literacy including various software packages
- Highly developed interpersonal and solution focused skills
- Experience working effectively within and across diverse teams
- Strong and effective communication skills
Desirable
- Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) and CPR
- Coxwain NC - Certificate of Competency
