Why This Role Matters

This role is designed for those who want to accelerate their maritime career while becoming a well-rounded crew member. At the end of your fixed-term contract, you will have gained:

  • Exposure to live vessel operations during peak demand
  • Real experience across marine operations, safety, and hospitality
  • The ability to deliver high-quality guest experiences onboard
  • A strong foundation in both technical and customer-facing skills

About the Role

As a Deckhand, you’ll support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel while playing a key role in delivering an exceptional onboard experience. A day on the water includes:

  • Assist with berthing, unberthing, and line handling.
  • Support safe passenger embarkation and disembarkation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of all vessel areas.
  • Participate in safety drills, emergency response, and hazard monitoring.
  • Operate and maintain deck equipment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and passenger assistance.
  • Support food & beverage service and hospitality operations when not performing Marine duties.
  • Work collaboratively with crew to ensure a seamless experience for guests.

Deckhands are expected to actively contribute to hospitality service when not engaged in marine duties.

About You

You don’t need experience — but you do need the right mindset.

  • Passion for working on the water and in dynamic environments
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in busy, high-energy settings
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Safety-focused with a team-first attitude

You must also hold a General Purpose Hand Qualification and Responsible Service Of Alcohol (RSA) competency card issued by Service NSW.
