Shape the Future of Adelaide’s Public Transport Are you a senior operational leader ready to take the wheel of one of Australia’s most significant transit networks? Torrens Transit, a major subsidiary of Transit Systems and the ASX listed Kelsian Group, is Adelaide’s primary public mobility provider. We move approximately three quarters of the city’s bus commuters, supported by a workforce of over 1,400 employees and a fleet of over 800 buses. Operating from six metropolitan depots—including Morphettville, Mile End, and St Agnes, we manage high frequency transit routes and the iconic Adelaide O-Bahn corridor. The Opportunity: We are seeking an outstanding, high calibre leader to join our Senior Leadership team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will hold ultimate ownership of daily execution of bus public transport services across our network. This is a foundational senior operational leadership role spanning the whole business, where you will ensure our depots operate safely, cost effectively, and in alignment with Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) service delivery contracts. You will drive the operational performance of the network while championing a unified "One Torrens" culture across all sites. What You Will Do: - Operational Excellence: Drive on time reliability and scheduling discipline, ensuring strict compliance with DIT contract benchmarks and service delivery requirements.
- Leadership and Culture: Manage, mentor, and empower Area Managers and their Operations Managers across multiple depots. Lead change management initiatives and foster a consultative, collegiate environment.
- Financial Performance: Drive cost effective performance, optimise labour allocation, and manage budgets with high financial literacy.
- Safety and Compliance: Foster an uncompromising culture of safety, ensuring adherence to Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), HSEQ standards, and internal systems (AMS, BMS, TIMS).
- Stakeholder Management: As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, liaise with government bodies and external providers, ensuring fleet and facilities strategies align with business priorities.
What You Bring:
- Senior management experience in passenger transportation, road transport, or a highly transferable logistics/operations environment.
- Ability to lead multiple and diverse teams across multi-site operations, fostering an uncompromising culture of safety and driving high performance.
- High level stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and lead change while engaging effectively with senior leaders and government bodies.
- A track record of driving continuous improvement and operational transformation, underpinned by strategic thinking, tactical ability, and commercial acumen.
- Robust strategic financial thinking, backed by a strong track record of P&L ownership.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or demonstrated equivalence) and a current driver’s licence.
