About Us

 

The PS Murray Princess is the largest inland paddle wheeler in the Southern Hemisphere.  Accommodating a maximum of 120 guests and operating 3, 4 and 7 night cruises on the Murray River from Mannum, 87 kilometres from Adelaide, this stunning vessel attracts guests from all over Australia and the world.

 

Due to internal promotions we require a permanent full-time Galley Hand.

  • Attention to detail in preparation & food presentation
  • Police Clearance Certificate

These key requirements will be complimented by experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Experience working in a fast paced team - Essential
  • Guest service experience - Desirable
  • Experience in food provision services – Essential
  • Previous experience in food & beverage / catering – Essential
  • Experience in the Tourism and/or Hospitality Industry - Desirable
  • Driver’s License – Desirable
  • Current First Aid Certificate – Desirable

About the role

 

This position is an integral part of our galley (kitchen) team. Tasks include food preparation, ensuring food is rotated and kept in a clean and orderly manner, assisting with galley cleaning and maintenance, assisting with galley duties such as dish-washing and the transportation, loading and unloading of food and equipment, and participating in on-board entertainment activities as required.

 

The Galley Hand is responsible for the maintenance of health and hygiene standards as required for a commercial kitchen under the guidance of the Head Chef and is required to keep all food service and preparation equipment clean and hygienic at all times. Adherence to daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule, and food safe guidelines including chemical safety as set by the company standard as directed by the Head Chef.

 

This role would ideally suit a person undertaking commercial cookery qualifications.

 

This role is a live onboard position with a 7 week roster cycle which runs 14.5 days on / 13.5 days off / 14.5 days on / 6.5 days off.

 

This role requires energy, commitment, initiative, teamwork, and multi-skilling and time management.
