About the Opportunity

 

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a trade-qualified Demi Chef to join our culinary team at K'gari Beach Resort on beautiful K'gari. If you bring creativity, enthusiasm and a passion for great food, this is your chance to make your mark in a supportive island kitchen team.

 

This full-time role is 76 hours per fortnight across a broad rostering system and requires you to relocate and live on the island at K'gari Beach Resort.

 

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Head Chef, the Demi Chef is responsible for cooking and serving general and specialised meals for guests according to menu guidelines, recipes and K'gari Beach Resort standards. You will bring flair, teamwork and motivation to the kitchen while supporting the delivery of high-quality dining experiences for our guests.

 

Key Role Requirements

  • Cook and serve general and specialised meals for guests according to menu guidelines, recipes and direction from the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef.
  • Maintain excellent hygiene, cleanliness, food safety and Workplace Health & Safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Ensure quality, presentation and timely delivery of meals in line with K'gari Beach Resort standards and company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate efficiently with Food and Beverage staff and work collaboratively with apprentices, kitchen stewards and the broader kitchen team.
  • Assist with baking, pastry cooking, butchering, stock management and kitchen preparation as required.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent higher education.
  • Food Safety Course essential, with Responsible Service of Alcohol desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Demi Chef role preferred, with demonstrated experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work across a broad rostering system with efficient and effective time management skills.
  • Advanced communication and organisational skills, exceptional grooming and presentation, and a flair for creating excellent cuisine.
  • Previous experience within a multi-outlet resort or hotel environment.
