Horizons West Bus & Coachlines is seeking dedicated and professional Bus Operators to join our School Bus Services (SBS) team. This role is responsible for the safe, reliable and caring transportation of school students, including students with disability and neurodivergent students, between designated pick-up/drop-off points and their schools.

About the Role

This position operates throughout the school year during school terms and involves morning and afternoon split shifts. Casual employment opportunities are available across our Welshpool, Landsdale and Mandurah depots. Horizons West prefers that drivers remain allocated to the same school run for the duration of the school year to support consistency for students and families.

Drivers play an important role in providing students with a safe, consistent and supportive journey to and from school each day.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Bus Aides, Operations staff, parents, carers and school personnel to ensure high standards of student safety, respect and service reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate an SBS school bus on scheduled school services
• Transport students between designated locations and schools in accordance with established routes and procedures
• Deliver a calm, patient and professional service to students, parents, carers and school staff
• Support the safe and respectful transport of students with disability and neurodivergent students
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks, refuel the vehicle as required, maintain vehicle cleanliness and promptly report defects or safety concerns
• Adhere to all SBS procedures, road rules, company policies and passenger safety requirements
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality for all scheduled services

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Demonstrated professional and responsible approach to student safety and passenger care
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
• Proven reliability, punctuality and flexibility to accommodate morning and afternoon school services
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Current Western Australian MR Driver’s Licence or higher
• Current Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) Authorisation, or willingness to obtain
• Current Working with Children Check (WWC), or willingness to obtain
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
• Ability to meet all company and regulatory fitness, safety and compliance requirements
• Basic computer and tablet literacy

Desirable Experience:

• Previous bus driving experience
