HSEQ Manager - Full Time

About the Role

The HSEQ Manager is a key member of the SeaLink Gladstone leadership team, supporting safe, compliant and effective marine operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will maintain and continually improve our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management systems and help turn legislative, client and operational requirements into practical systems and actions.

 

You will work closely with leaders, employees, contractors, clients and regulators to strengthen HSEQ capability, audit readiness, risk control and a positive culture of safety, quality and continual improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the cloud-based Integrated Management System aligned with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015.

• Coordinate audits, assurance activities, vessel and workplace inspections, and the timely closeout of findings and corrective actions.

• Monitor HSEQ, environmental and marine safety obligations and update procedures, registers and controlled documents as required.

• Manage incident notification, investigation, corrective action and organisational learning, including ICAM or equivalent methodology.

• Support operational risk management, safe systems of work, critical controls, management of change and emergency preparedness.

• Coordinate workers compensation, injury management and return to work processes, including liaison with WorkCover.

• Analyse and report HSEQ performance, trends and client KPIs to support management decisions and continual improvement.

• Coach and engage leaders, employees and contractors through training, consultation and visible HSEQ leadership.

•Support marine assurance, vessel inspections and client compliance requirements.

• Provide HSEQ input to tenders, project plans, contractor management and service delivery requirements.

 

About You

You are a practical, confident and collaborative HSEQ professional who can build trust, influence behaviour and translate complex compliance requirements into clear operational solutions. You are comfortable working both independently and alongside frontline teams in a marine or other operational environment.

 

To be successful, you will bring:

• A Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.

• At least five years’ HSEQ experience, ideally in marine, transport, logistics or another 

  operational industry.

• Working knowledge of WHS, environmental and domestic commercial vessel legislation,

  AMSA requirements and the National Standard for Commercial Vessels.

• Experience maintaining integrated management systems and supporting ISO certification,

  audits and corrective action closeout.

• Strong communication, consultation, stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills.

• Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator accreditation or equivalent return to work

  qualification.

• Incident investigation capability, including ICAM or equivalent, and drug and alcohol

  testing competency.
