Your dishes. Sydney's best backdrop.
Captain Cook Cruises, The Jackson and the Starship Group are looking for a skilled Cook who takes real pride in what leaves the pass — someone who wants their food to hold up against one of the best views in the country.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chef, the Cook is responsible for turning out consistent, high-quality dishes across a lively service. Day to day, you'll:
Prepare and cook menu items to spec, keeping consistency and presentation front of mind across every sitting
Manage your section confidently during service, working closely with the Chef and the wider galley team
Handle proteins, sauces and sides with proper technique — precision matters as much as speed
Monitor stock levels and quality, flagging what needs ordering or rotating
Maintain a clean, organised, compliant workspace throughout service and pack-down
Support menu execution for a range of cruise formats, from set lunch runs to larger functions
What makes this role special is the setting you're cooking in: a moving kitchen, turning out plated food for guests who are often seeing Sydney Harbour for the very first time. It's a step up from a standard commercial kitchen — a bigger stage, a sharper standard, and food that gets to shine in front of guests on one of the best harbours in the world.
About You
You're a capable, motivated Cook with solid fundamentals — clean knife work, sound technique, and a good feel for how a busy service comes together. You stay composed and organised when things get busy, communicate clearly with your team, and take genuine pride in your section and your plates.
You take food safety and hygiene seriously as second nature, and you bring the kind of steady, positive energy that makes a Chef glad to have you on the team. You know good food when you taste it, you don't cut corners, and you want to work alongside people who feel the same way about doing the job properly. Whether you're early in your cooking career or bring several years in commercial kitchens, what matters most is your appetite to keep growing.
