The base salary for this role is between $75,000 to $80,000

Join our vibrant kitchen team at K’gari Beach Resort on beautiful K’gari. We’re looking for an experienced Chef who is passionate about creating quality dishes, leading by example in the kitchen and delivering memorable dining experiences for guests across our resort outlets.

 

About the Role

 

As Chef de Partie, you will support the delivery of consistent, high-quality food across K’gari Beach Resort by planning menus, preparing and cooking dishes, monitoring presentation standards and helping guide the kitchen team. You will work closely with managers, kitchen and waiting staff, and relevant specialists to resolve food preparation issues while maintaining safe, hygienic and efficient kitchen operations.

 

The position is located at K’gari Beach Resort on beautiful K'gari (Fraser Island). K’gari Beach Resort is part of the KBRV Resort Operations Pty Ltd.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes, menu specifications and resort standards.
  • Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, seasonal menu development, recipe creation and menu costing to ensure a diverse and profitable food offering.
  • Ensure consistent food quality, portion control, presentation and timely service across all kitchen operations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and workplace health and safety in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Support the management of stock levels, ordering, inventory control and stocktakes to minimise waste and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Monitor food costs and contribute to initiatives that improve kitchen productivity and profitability.
  • Lead, train, mentor and supervise junior chefs, apprentices and kitchen stewards to support skill development and team performance.
  • Coordinate food preparation and service activities to ensure smooth kitchen operations in high-volume environments.
  • Liaise effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure accurate and timely meal service and a positive guest experience.
  • Assist with the setup and operation of both on-site and off-site kitchen facilities as required.
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas to ensure they remain safe, clean and operational.
  • Participate in staff training, safety drills, departmental meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting company values, delivering exceptional customer service and achieving operational goals.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant qualifications, e.g. Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Chef, or equivalent role in the hospitality industry.
  • Food Safety Course essential, with Responsible Service of Alcohol desirable.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume, multi-outlet resort, hotel or commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and within set guidelines.
  • A positive can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, strong presentation standards and a passion for creating quality cuisine.
